John uses 35mm and digital equipment and was inspired to take up photography seriously by seeing the work of the great photographers like Cartier-Bresson and Brandt. John has worked as a press photographer and has taught photography. His favourite subjects at present are live music photography and 'abstract' subjects. He is inspired by 'found objects' rather than studio set-ups.

Recent exhibitions have included a series on post-industrial landscapes, a collection of rock portraits and a commissioned series of landscapes.
